Data Pairs (Pins 1+2 and 3+6): Data
pairs are protected by an advanced hybrid circuit
consisting of gas tubes coordinated with bridged, dual
redundant, high capacity silicon avalanche diodes (SAD).
Our solid state SAD design intercepts the leading edge
of the surge with sub-nanosecond response time, then gas
tubes crowbars the surge to ground. Our unique solid
state bridge SAD circuit design dramatically lowers
effective capacitance, allowing much higher data rates
than simple SAD circuits.
Power Pairs (Pins 4+5 and 7+8)
Robust dual redundant high-capacity metal oxide
varistors (MOV) clamp the surge with sub-nano second
response time. Use of MOVs eliminates DC holding current
problems found in other gas tube hybrid designs. A green
LED signals power on the circuit, and a red
LED.
