Alkaline Fuel Cell Batteries, Testers & Software
Model TL5 Test Load for Fuel Cells and Batteries

The Model TL5 Test Load for fuel cells and batteries offers several improvements and enhanced functionality over the earlier TL4 model. It is a passive electronic load with built-in microprocessor intelligence, with ability to briefly interrupt the current and take resistance free cell potential readings with programmable delay. There are additional inputs for a reference electrode and for a temperature sensor. Microprocessor controls the time keeping and data acquisition functions, and the measured values are displayed on an 80-character LCD display. Current ranges of up to 40 A are operator selectable; voltage (potential) up to 20.00 V is autoranging. An expansion I/O port with eight pairs of digital inputs and outputs and two differential analog inputs allows connection, monitoring and control of additional sensors.

The instrument has the capability to operate under manual or remote control, and to communicate with a computer over a serial RS-485 link.

Testmaster™ Fuel Cell and Battery Testing Software

Testmaster™ is a powerful, integrated software package designed for testing of fuel cells and batteries. It runs on a PC computer in a Windows environment.

It communicates with up to sixteen Model TL5 Test Loads in a daisy-chain configuration, by means of a single RS-485 serial port. Testmaster™ performs all the tasks required in short or long term testing of fuel cells or batteries - monitoring, control, data collection and storage, and graphical data representation.

Testmaster™ includes all Windows standard user interface features including multiple document support, dockable toolbars, tool tips and context sensitive menus, making the application very user friendly.

Quickcell™ QC200 Electrochemical Test Cell
The Quickcell™ QC200 is an electrochemical test cell designed for testing of gas diffusion or solid electrodes for fuel cell and battery research, development and quality control. It is a quality engineered tool for an electrochemist - scientist, engineer, student - in pure or applied research, development, or quality assurance. The cell allows the user to conduct electrochemical experiments on a small laboratory scale, with closely controlled parameters. The unit is designed with a relatively large electrolyte tank with a built in gas lift pump and temperature control element. A suitable reference electrode can be conveniently inserted in the electrolyte tank. Two gas chambers provide the gas supply to the back side of gas diffusion electrodes or allow for circulation of separate anodic or cathodic working fluid. Electrodes or membranes are mounted in plastic frames or, for tests of shorter duration between gaskets that are sandwiched between the cell body and the gas chambers. The assembly is held together by nylon bolts. The electrode area is large enough to obtain representative results of the electrode/process performance, and small enough so that even delicate electrodes do not require additional support other than the frame.
Model TLIF Interface Module

The Model TLIF Interface Module is a serial communication converter and power distribution module.

Its first function is to convert serial signals coming from the computer serial port COM1 or COM2 from the RS-232 protocol to the RS-485 protocol to allow daisy-chaining of the TL4 or TL5 instruments.

Its second function is to provide power to all the Test Loads through the daisy-chain connection, eliminating the need for individual power supplies.
