OC3 to DS3 Minature
SONET Multiplexer |
 |
| |
| The O3D3 is designed to interface with
WDM 1550nm or standard 1310nm optics. One O3D3 shelf can
replace several bays of conventional SONET equipment for
significant cost savings. |
|
The O3D3 Miniature SONET Multiplexer is the smallest,
most cost-effective OC3/SONET-to-DS3 Multiplexer available.
Part of a complete family of products, the O3D3 is designed
to interface with Wave Division Multiplexing (WDM) 1550nm or
standard 1310nm optics to provide a DS3 port where and when
needed. A boon to outside plant operations where space is at
a premium, the O3D3 is small enough to provide multiple circuits
from cramped Remote Terminal (RT) cabinets, virtually eliminating
the need for large and expensive traditional SONET Multiplexers.
Ideal for virtually every DS3 application - Remote DSLAMs,
Remote ADSL miniRAMs, ISP and CLEC DS3 hand-offs, NGDLC RT-to-subscriber
DS3 delivery, or office building virtual coax circuits - the
O3D3 offers cost-effective, dependable, and easy to deploy
fiber access. The O3D3 revolutionizes DS3 service delivery
by following the successful T1 transport model: easy to use,
plug-andplay self-contained circuit packs that are small,
simple and standardized. The “plug-and-play” O3D3
Miniature SONET Multiplexer eliminates complicated computer
terminal training and time-consuming provisioning, while standard
GR-253 SONET, GR-499 DS3 and NEBS compliance provides the
interoperability required for seamless network operation.

OC3
to 3 DS3 Minature SONET Multiplexer |
 |
| |
| The O3-3D3 features three DS3 ports for
maximum bandwidth utilization and one OC3 port, plus a
second optional OC3 port for integral fiber protection
switching. |
|
Part of our complete O3D3 OC3-to-DS3 Miniature
SONET Multiplexer family, the O3-3D3 is designed to derive
three DS3 circuits from an OC3 1550nm or 1310nm optical facility,
with a second optional OC3 port available for fiber protection
switching. Compact, inexpensive and easy to deploy, the plug-and-play
O3-3D3 works “hand-in-glove” with our full assortment
of O3D3 modules and WDM couplers, offering a simple, pay-as-you-go
migration from 1 to 6 DS3s over 2 fibers. Drop-and-Continue
Ring Capability with or without integral Protection Switching,
Point-to-Point Application support, as well as climate-hardened,
standard Type 400 mechanics for unrestricted deployment in
CO, OSP and CPE mountings, make the O3-3D3 an effective solution
for overcoming fiber exhaustion, expanding existing network
capability, and deferring the cost of additional fiber deployment
- virtually eliminating the expense, complexity and size limitations
often associated with traditional SONET multiplexers.
Easy to install and use, the plug-and-play O3-3D3 unit features
3 DS3 ports with individual DS3 status LEDs, along with a
single OC3 port and status LED. The O3-3D3P features a second
OC3 port and status LED for integral switch-to-protect capability.
Each offers front panel provisioning of DS3 Length and DS3
Operating Mode (point-to-point or drop and continue), comprehensive
standard DS3 75-ohm BNC connections and standard fiber SC
interface connectors. Local and remote alarm monitoring and
loopback capability allow rigorous network and maintenance
monitoring. Medium-range optics units economically support
fiber facilities up to 40 Km, while extended-range (ER) optics
units support applications up to 80 Km. |

O3D3
Switch-to-Protect PROT Module |
 |
The PROT Module provides Switch-to-Protect
capability for Type 200™ Mechanics O3D3 units, ensuring
virtually uninterrupted network transmission for Service Level
Agreement (SLA) compliance.
The simple, climate-hardened, “plug-and-play”
modules feature standard front-panel DS3 75-ohm BNC connections,
and front-panel status LEDs to indicate the active link. The
unit is mounted along with a pair of O3D3 L2 series units
in the CO 3O3D3-23L4 3-position, 23”rack-mounted shelf,
or the CPE 3O3D3 CPL4 3-position shelf with locking cover.
O3-3D3 units do not require the PROT for Switch-to-Protect
configurations. |
